Auto Toll Road
The historic Auto Toll Road climbs up 4.3 miles to the summit of Mt. Mansfield, Vermont’s highest peak, where you’ll enjoy breathtaking views of Lake Champlain and the Adirondack Mountains. It typically takes about 20 minutes for cars to make the 4.5 mile trip. Hiking and biking are not permitted on the Toll Road. Several hiking trails ranging from moderate to difficult are available at the summit.
Cyclists of every ability will enjoy Stowe’s cycling terrain, including paved and dirt roads, trails and paths. Stowe boasts a 5.3-miled paved Stowe Recreation Path, that begins across from the Inn.

Known as the Rec Path, this is a favorite among visitors and area residents. This 5.5 mile, one-way paved path, is free for public use. It is open all year long and features mostly flat and level terrain. While on the path visitors can enjoy a picnic, beautiful views and scenery, and access to many shops and restaurants.

Stowe Theatre Guild Performances
Presenting four theater shows this year, the guild is located just across the street from the Green Mountain Inn providing from entertainment from mid-June until mid-October. Visit www.stowetheatre.com for shows.
Public beaches are at Lake Eden, Lake Elmore and Caspian Lake. Waterbury Reservoir offers two designated swimming areas. The 635-acre Green River Reservoir is beautiful with various rock outcroppings and a rope swing.
The Swimming Hole, a community pool, offers a competition-sized pool with diving board, a toddler and child swimming pool with water-slide and fun water fixtures and a complete weight and cardiovascular training circuit.
Stowe offers numerous swimming holes. Some are a cinch to find: a walk up the Stowe Recreation Path to a spot on the West Branch River, or the well-known Foster’s swimming hole. The best swimming hole is one you find yourself, perhaps by parking your car near the bottom of a moderately-sized stream and working your way upstream.
Just a few blocks away from the Inn, play on courts at the Stowe Recreation Center (no charge, first come, first serve). Free, public courts are also found at the Stowe High School.
